Multitec® spray systems have also proved their worth in the manufacture of sanitary ware such as bath tubs and shower trays.
Normally, a sanitary component is produced by thermoforming a thermoplastic film of polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) and acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS). To give the molded part the necessary stability, the back of the thermoformed film must be reinforced. This is usually done in a time and energy-intensive process by hand, laying up with unsaturated polyesters and chopped strands. Our polyurethane spray system is a good alternative to the present system because it cures quickly, gets by without solvents and exhibits excellent adhesion to the film substrate. Alongside the two solid Multitec® systems, a new, all-cellular two-component system is currently under development.
