Skis

Highly stable sandwich elements made with the Baypreg® polyurethane system from BaySystems®, have already proved themselves in an enormous number of applications. The sandwich parts are noted for their low weight and their high impact strength and stiffness. Skiers and snowboarders benefit from this because the tough, flexible skis and snowboards do not weigh them down like a lead weight, but allow them to perform all kinds of acrobatic twists and jumps – especially in the case of snowboards.
Many leading manufacturers of high-strength moldings see Baypreg® as a viable alternative to conventional epoxy resins, not only because it is free of solvents and styrene, but also because it is suitable for all compression molding processes and compatible with a wide variety of different core materials and many reinforcing fiber materials. Good wetting and impregnation of such materials with the spray system is guaranteed.

Being a resin for sandwich structures in which optimum bonding of the individual elements is essential, Baypreg® is ideal for use in skis and snowboards. The high integration capacity of the polyurethane material means that it can be readily combined with decorative facings.
