Blendur®

A resin system for all situations …
… reliable in the high-temperature range

Blendur® is the name of a class of high-performance resin systems consisting of special polyisocyanates and epoxides. Blendur® offers a choice between low-viscosity and medium-viscosity (30-2,500 mPas) one and two-component grades, all of which are compatible and miscible with one another. The pot life can be individually adjusted by using suitable activators. Depending on the activator, the resins solidify under heat or at room temperature.

Blendur® offers a wide variety of options for the manufacture of fiber-reinforced structural parts, semi-finished goods, finished goods and casting compounds. This high degree of flexibility makes it possible to use virtually any of the manufacturing processes normally deployed for thermoset plastics. Whether RTM, vacuum infusion, liquid resin infiltration, SMC, pultrusion, filament winding, prepreg production, casting or injection molding, or in tool and mold construction, the Blendur® resin systems outperform standard epoxy and phenolic resins. For example, Blendur® is a suitable alternative to conventional products that have become established in the RTM process.

Whereas for many of our partners, the capabilities of Blendur® are only just beginning to emerge, the resin system has already proved its worth for composites used in the high-temperature range. Particularly in new markets such as space and air travel, rail transport, automotive, and electrical/electronics, the demands made on thermoset molding compounds are increasing all the time. They also have to comply with standards such as FST, fire tests to UL 94 V 0 and DIN 5510 Part 2, heat class H or tracking resistance.
